The 2 most significant bit (MSB) of IODC has been zero for more than 10 years in the past. Last week it changed to non-zero value. The first version Venus 8 ROM code, due to our particular internal processing, there will be problem if these 2 MSBs are non-zero, no problem if zero. These 2 bits are all zero in the past, and all simulator test scenarios have those 2 bits also zero, we were not aware of such issue when making the 2013 ROM code release. That version ROM chipset receivers all worked perfectly over the past 4 years. Last week’s change in 2 MSBs of IODC to non-zero value caused recently observed problem for some of our ROM receivers.
Know occurrence of problem is: If the ROM receiver cold starts, or warm starting but has not been used for over 3.5 days, then it’ll have problem getting position fix. If hot starting, or warm starting and having been in use less than 3.5 days ago, then it’ll not experience any problem; i.e. no problem will appear if the ROM GPS receiver is in frequent use.
Currently we have reported the issue to GPS Navigation Center, Contact Us - U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center , describing problems our customers experience, hoping they could consider changing the 2 MSBs of IODC back to zero as before.[DOUBLEPOST=1506519205][/DOUBLEPOST]
